Paws to Read

Darwin really enjoys working. We became a certified Canine Comfort team last year.

Each week we visit a local elder care home (hospice and memory) and last Autumn we began working at Paws to Read for our local library.

Darwin absolutely looks forward to his job. When I ask "are you ready for work?" or simply "work?" he responds by bouncing in front of me and barking.

The reaction from the people with whom he interacts speaks volumes. He brings smiles to many and I'm so grateful that he is part of our family and that we can share him with others and bring joy.

Outside again!

I am so grateful for the rain yesterday and today. Not only do we desperately need the rain here in California, the rain knocked most of the remaining tree pollen out and made for a very enjoyable and tolerable 3.1/12 on the pollen scale.

Darwin was elated to get out for a "walk" in our favorite place, Sycamore Grove Park.
He buried his nose in the dewy sweet grass and fiddleneck.

We enjoyed our morning walk in the rain with the birds singing.

My hope is that it rains a bit more and we get a couple more days outside. I think tree pollen is on its last leg which means we can resume our regularly scheduled pre-work walk. Darwin has been such a good boy about being a shut in with me and my hubby has been walking him or playing ball after he comes home from work as well as dog park visits. I think it's time to get Darwin a new toy as a way to say thanks.

What I believe... in 3 minutes

I love this video explaining Humanism in just over 3 minutes. It perfectly describes my feelings and that no matter what your belief system, we really have more in common with one another than you may think.

Couldn't have said it better....

There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it. (Edith Wharton)

Life is a banquet... and most poor suckers are starving to death. Live... live..... LIVE!!!!! (Auntie Mame)
